Essential reading – my arse

To many people summer holiday means reading good books in the shadow of some big three – I’m all for it, but it’s been a while since I had a suitable book in my hands. The last one was Bob Dylan’s “Chronicles vol. 1” but it was released up to X-mas and I couldn’t wait till summer … mind you, it’s a brilliant and somewhat odd book.
This summer I was recommended “The Rule of Four” by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. It’s riding on the latest wave of pseudo-academic thrillers competing with books such as “The da Vinci Mystery” and what have you. Let me tell you from the start – if you wanna read books of that genre then go to the mother-ore: Umberto Eco or if you prefer a bit more easy-reading Arturo Pérez-Reverte! Don’t waste your time on self-absorbed copy cats! It’s like reading Ken Follett instead of Shakespeare!

When football lost it's innocence

Recently a mate’s son and I talked about football and I told the story about the then great German player Ewald Lienen who in 1981 got brutally attacked on purpose when the coach for the opponent team couldn’t see any other way to stop him. I promised him that I would show him a rather famous picture from that situation …. mission accomplished.

Useless Summer Quizzz

From time to time I try to annoy my friends in the Bowie Newsgroup with useless links and off topic postings. This summer the NG is trying to recover after the lost of some heavy geezers, a completely horrific row (signifying the rise and fall ...) plus the fact that the man whom we admire has gone hibanating, so I decided to biff up the gaff a bit with an on topic summer quiz. So far it has turned out to be pretty difficult or maybe they just don’t want to play. It couldt however also be only me who gets a kick out of gussing who old farts in pictures “used to be”. It's updated every evening 'round 8 o'clock and you can see it here: http://home20.inet.tele.dk/corvus_corax/Quizzz.htm
